Sounds like the exact things 'our' CO spoke about. No higher Education. And everything in this world is an illusion.

Quality of JW teaching from elders
by sir82 inthere was a recent thread on the "quality" of converts to jws in recent years.
it wasn't a pretty picture, based on the thread contents.. well, the lack of depth isn't restricted to new converts.. in our clam this week, one of the principal points for review was this:.
ne 1:1; 2:1—why can we conclude that “the 20thyear” mentioned at nehemiah 1:1 and 2:1 is countedfrom the same starting point?

We have the CO visiting this week. his talk was about Illusions and how illusionists and the devil act to deceive people. (After one minute or so I realised that he was telling true things if you filled in WTS instead of 'devil'. Create an illusion of truth. Distract people to make the 'impossible' happen when they not look your way. False messages. Big show. Make people believe your story)
Anyway he ended his talk by telling us about Houdini. How everytime he escaped out of being trapped in diffucult positions. Even once he was handcuffed and put in a chest and then burried.
and you know, thats what will happen in he end with the devil. He will be captivated and put in a chest and be buried (rev. 20:2,3).
😳 and then what? Escape like Houdini?

Perfection
by purplesofa ini was talking to a friend of mine about perfection last night.. he made a comment that there was no way to have perfection, unless you made one thing and set that as perfect.
everything after that would be a copy and otherwise would always in some way fall short of perfect, the original creation.
we were talking about art.. and then he made a comment that god did not create us perfectly.

I was thinking about perfection too.
JW always say: Adam and Eve were perfect and yet the were mislead by the Devil.
after that they were no longer perfect.
Were the no longer perfect because they made one mistake? What does perfection mean then?
Or was becoming imperfect the punishment for being mislead?
In my opinion, someone who is decieved or mislead, is not guilty, (okay, maybe of being stupid), So why punish them at all?
And then there's the future. JW will grow towards perfection, in 1000 years time. Of course at the end the devil will be around again, and we already know (now!) that thousands of perfect JW in paradise will follow the devil when he will be free again.
So what's the point of being perfect? Will you never make a mistake or a wrong decision anymore? No. You're perfect until you're not perfect anymore.
I don't see the advantage at all.

I just watched the beginning of this video. To me it looks like they are talking their way out of the abuse-case: whatever severe, gross and awful sin ... (Like hiding abuse, lying in court) It can be forgiven. Jehovah will not discard people who do that. 1-0 for the FDS.
But talking against Jehovah's spirit (read: being against his witnesses? Or having a lawsuit against them?) will never be forgiven. 2-0 for FDS 🙄
I think it's weird, until now the 'sin against the spirit' was something unknown, right? It was something quite blurry and vague. (Or at least it was until 2004 when I quit trying to understand the JW stuff.) How convenient that they now know the specifics of this sin against the spirit.

I am SO tempted ! to join the FSM Church !

i am so tempted to join it openly, and see what the reaction of the jw's is, surely they should df me for joining another religion?.

The question 'where else would we go' was not about a religion. That's a mistake a lot of JW make. It's what the Borg wants you to believe, that this question is about 'true' or 'false' religion.
But: The disciples asked where would the go if they were not with JESUS.
So if you feel there must be someone you want to stay with, (because 'it says so in the Bible') it's Jesus. not a religion. Or a cult.

Would I lie to you?
by slimboyfat ingiven recent posts on the forum and discussion, maybe we could play this game: would i lie to you?
in the uk we have this tv programme where minor celebrities tell weird or embarrassing stories about themselves and the rest of the participants have to guess if it is a true story or made up.
when the others have voted then the person reveals if the story is true or false.

@Anders Andersen: I think the first one is true. I would be really shocked if it would be the second. (And if that's the case, did you feel guilty back then? 😳 Or could you really relax and see that stuff and have no fear of Jehovah knowing what you did?)
